First day of School
03 Feb 2010
It was a busy day at Ivanhoe Grammar School on Monday as students returned from their summer breaks and new students were welcomed to the School. Our senior students began their 2010 timetable and classes at the end of 2009 with our Early Commencement Program, so were able to slip straight into their new year.
Our Year 7 students began their year last Friday with a transition day, designed to introduce them to their new surroundings, classmates and teachers. Their transition continues with our Peer Mentoring Buddy program, where Year 7 students have a Year 11 mentor to help them adjust to secondary school and learn their way around.
The most emotional scenes were definitely in the Prep classrooms as Ivanhoe's newest and youngest students came for their first day of School. The parents and students arrived beaming with excitement and were very quick to make new friends and explore their classrooms. The Prep students started doing activities together such as colouring and play-doh almost as soon as they walked in and once it was time to get their first class started, they were all keen and ready. Parents then had a chance to chat over morning tea and when they came back to pick their children up, they didn't want to leave as they were having so much fun.
Now the whole School is in full swing with classes and activities and ready for a busy, challenging and exciting year ahead.
